Mosaic Lake By Avyukt Ohri
Instead of long brushstrokes, this painting is built from many small square dabs of paint, placed side by side like tiles. In the upper and lower areas, those dabs form fields of deep teal, navy and blue-green that shift subtly from one square to the next. Across the middle runs a bright band of white and icy blue, bordered by a thin line of glowing amber.
The effect is part stained glass, part pixel art, and part lake at twilight. The amber line reads as the last light on the horizon, and the pale band as a reflection or a strip of mist. The cool palette is warmed by that single orange thread, which draws the eye straight across the canvas.
The technique gives the piece a calm, patient rhythm. It looks deliberate and orderly from a distance and wonderfully hand-made up close, with every square showing the artist’s touch.
