Autumn Path by Avyukt Ohri
This is one of the most inviting landscapes in the collection. A pale, silvery cascade falls down the middle of the canvas, flanked on both sides by walls of red, orange, gold and green foliage. The leaves are suggested with dabs and strokes of thick paint, so the trees shimmer rather than being drawn leaf by leaf.
At the base, the cascade opens into a sandy golden path that curves toward the viewer, as if inviting a walk into the scene. The warm palette of autumn, with its reds and ambers, is balanced by the cool light of the central stream, which gives the painting depth and a feeling of fresh air.
The texture is rich throughout, with palette-knife work that gives the foliage body and the path a gritty, sunlit surface. It is a painting about warmth, passage and the pleasure of a quiet walk in a forest at the turn of the season.
